A fully catered ski chalet holiday is a popular choice and it’s easy to see why. Your hosts at Chalet la Fontaine will be sure to make your ski holiday extra special and luxurious this winter. Enjoy high standards of food, drink and service – so you don’t have to worry about lifting a finger. If you’re thinking about booking a catered chalet on your next ski holiday in France 2021/22 but don’t know where to start, here’s some information you may find useful.
Your chalet hosts take care of everything
The best thing about a catered ski chalet is you don’t need to worry about cooking or cleaning! For five days, you can enjoy a cooked breakfast, afternoon tea and a three-course dinner complete with canapés and an open bar. The chalet hosts have two days off, so on those days you’ll be able to eat out on the slopes or pop down to the village for dinner to enjoy the delicious French alpine cuisine. The Portes du Soleil is home to incredible hearty mountain dishes and beautiful locally-made cheeses, so you will not be disappointed! In addition to cleaning the chalet daily, your hosts will also take care of the fireplace and clear away the snow.
Great for groups of friends and families
Catered chalets really enhance the ski holiday experience and are perfect for couples, friends and families. If you have a large enough group, you can even book the entire chalet out. If you are travelling in a smaller group then you can share the ski chalet with other guests. Whatever you choose, catered chalets are renowned for their cosy, social and easy-going environment. They provide a great way to spend time with old friends or new. Check out our post on Booking a Group Skiing Holiday 2022.
Cosy and relaxed surroundings
The property offers a spacious living area with beautiful mountain views from the balcony, so you can catch a glimpse of the sun set in the evenings. The chalet can cater to a maximum of 10 guests in four bedrooms. Each room has its own bathroom and one of these bedrooms has four beds, including one set of bunkbeds. This room is ideal for friends who are happy to share or a family with young children.
The food in a catered chalet is delicious
In the morning you’ll wake up to a cooked breakfast, selection of cereal, toast, croissants, tea, coffee and juice. Later on, your chalet hosts will have afternoon tea and cake ready so you can refuel and put your feet up after skiing all day. Then in the evening, you can enjoy a three-course dinner, accompanied by excellent wines. On the hosts’ days off, you can explore the restaurants in Châtel. The majority serve traditional Savoyarde cuisine however you’ll also find international and European dishes. During the ski season, it’s best to book in advance and your chalet hosts can make arrangements for you. If you’re staying at Chalet la Fontaine, you can enjoy a short 5-10 min walk into the village to eat at one of the restaurants.
Access the Portes du Soleil
If you are keen to base yourself with quick access to the Portes du Soleil ski area, Chalet la Fontaine is the perfect choice and is located just 90 mins drive from Geneva Airport. The Portes du Soleil covers 650km of ski runs which link 12 different resorts across France and the French-Swiss border. The chalet is located opposite the bus stop so you can access the Gabelou and Portes du Soleil ski lifts quickly, with minimum fuss. The village shops and restaurants are within a 5-10 minutes walk of the chalet. During heavy snow, it’s possible to ski back to the chalet.
